She's Closer to Fine

It's high time I sang the praises of my talented sister, Lindsay. At birth the doctors said she would either play the guitar or piano with the long fingers God gave her, at eight she picked up her first guitar, at eighteen she recorded her first album, and now at thirty she has stirred up the Seattle music scene and has a talent no one can deny is a gift from God.

This past week the whole family hightailed it to the Big Apple to see Lindsay grace the stage with the Indigo Girls, who have played a notable influence on Lindsay's music career. As her little sister I can not adequately express how proud I am. The obstacles she has overcome to be where she is today is nothing short of a miracle, and as I think back to all the seasons of life where she just wanted to give up I praise the Lord for giving her perseverance, determination and hope.  With every pluck of the guitar strings she pressed forward praying that one day her gift would be seen as unique, genuine and beautiful. A singer and poet, Lindsay writes from the deepest corners of her heart revealing her vulnerability and creativity as she musters up both personal and fictional refrains that bring you to your feet and tears to your eyes.

The show was a sensation! Chills ran up and down my spine as I reminisced of the days when my sisters and I would hum harmonies and tap our feet to staples like Closer to Fine, Kid Fears, and Galileo. The croud was great and embraced Lindsay as if she was one of the band.

Lindsay, I have never been more proud of you! Thank you for not burrying your treasure. Thank you for inspiring me to embrace my own gifts and share them with others. Thank you for putting your heart into everything you do and allowing your family and friends to walk with you as you push through the barriers and embrace your calling. You are so beautiful and I am so thankful for your life and the life you give to others through your breathtakingly poignant music. I love you and I am so excited for what our faithful Lord has in store for you and your guitar!

You can find Lindsay's latest album on Itunes and if you live in Seattle you can keep up with her shows via her website. And for your listening pleasure I have a couple of her songs on my "Library Page" (click on the pen link in my navigation bar).

I think I just got chills reading this. How exciting to watch your sister's success. I LOVE the Indigo Girls, saw them in New Orleans, and love belting out their songs in the car...if your sister's music is similar, I'm sure I'll really enjoy hers as well. Congrats to her! Sweet post, Coco! Warmly, Tiffany
