Biding My Time

While most of you are enjoying the warmth of spring I remain cooped up in my little nest while April showers continue to nourish the earth and raise new life from the idle ground. What is a girl to do whilst she anticipates playing outdoors? I shall knit, listen to new music, and of course take a glance at the lovely tulip atop our mantle.
What do you like to do on rainy afternoons? I have many of them ahead of me so I am open to suggestions:)
I'm hoping for a sunny day this week so I can take a few shots of some new recipes!

I am doing a bit of knitting. A bit of sewing. A bit of gardening when the sun shines. Today my boys are at the Mariner game and the girls and I are home. No better place to be.
I recently found your blog and I just wanted to say that I think everything about it is so beautiful! I find your writing refreshing along with your gorgeous photos. The design is stunning - can I just say how much I adore the 'coffee stains'? And the logo? Honestly, I find your work exquisite. I'm saving my pennies for perhaps one day a transformation of my own blog designed by Lark. :)
As a fellow knitter I have to mention how yummy both the above pictures are! That last one...I just want to pick up the needles and start knitting away. It's been a few months since I've picked up my own needles. You forget how soothing it is.
I love to spend my rainy afternoons baking, though I'm sure you do your fair share of that as well ;)
So happy to have found this little corner of yours. Keep up the wonderful work!
Isn't that new cd amazing? It's my summer soundtrack!
I don't get too many rainy days here in Phoenix. I LOVE them, the smell of the desert after it rains is hard to beat. Like Jayme, I enjoy baking on rainy days and curling up on the sofa with a quilt, cup of cocoa and an old B&W movie.
lovely photographs Coco! on rainy days I love to read old novels or watch classic films and snuggle on the couch with the fam. I hope the sunshine visits you this week (:
lovely photos as usual! The colour of that aqua yarn is stunning. Perfect for spring :) We get a lot of rain here as well. I mostly knit lately. I just find it so peaceful and relaxing. I used to paint or sketch a lot more but haven't really done much of that in recent years. I need to get back into it. I want to here more about what you are knitting ;)
We have a "rainy day" box that contains lots of art supplies. I like to pull it out, cover the dining room table with a big sheet of butcher paper, and watch my three little ones paint. It's very cool to see what they come up with, and the colors to which each of them gravitate.
Your knitting looks lovely. I have a scarf that I started several years ago... and still haven't finished! One of these days. My grandmother was a beautiful knitter. She made her own patterns and knit the most gorgeous, elaborate blankets (my mom calls them "afghans"). Sadly, I only picked up the most basic skills from her, since we lived far apart for much of her life. She passed away several years ago, but I can still see her hands knitting away.
I would love to say "take a nap"-but I can't seem to do that.
I love nothing more than to either read or bake or both on a rainy afternoon!
What a lovely post!:)
I love the slow, restful pace of rainy days. My favorite thing to do is get some bread baking, soup simmering, then rest by a fire, with a hot cup of tea and some knitting or crochet during an Anne of Green Gables marathon. My mom would do this when we were little, she is a sit-by-the-fire-and-watch-movies-when-it-rained kind of person, I know I've got the gene too!
Enjoy!!
thanks for all of the wonderful ideas ladies!!! I think I am going to make a box and put a bunch of items in it like cards, puzzles, movies...etc. And that will be our rainy day box! Thanks for the inspiration Dawn :)
It looks like you can take just splendid photos on rainy days! Lovely post, and lovely suggestions.
Wow! You're knitting (with beautiful yarn - what's the composition?)! Aren't bamboo needles the best? C x
